Institution: German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Division of Molecular GeneticsJob description:In this research project, we have full access to a unique dataset of several hundred biopsies from patients with HR+ metastatic breast cancer who were molecularly profiled within our precision oncology program CATCH.
Extensive corresponding clinical data is available and already annotated. The candidate’s main focus will be the question which molecular alterations originating from different omic layers contribute to resistance against
CDK4/6 inhibition and if they can be exploited clinically.
As a result, we aim to propose novel ways of stratifying patients receiving CDK4/6 inhibitors in the clinics based on multiple layers of molecular diagnostics (DNA, RNA, protein). We seek to minimize the chance of therapy
resistance and maximize the time span until progression occurs under CDK4/6 inhibition, potentially resulting in increased survival and quality-of-life benefit for the patients.
Requirements:• PhD in biology, biochemistry, physics or bioinformatics and research experience in a biological area
• Solid computational skills including statistics and programming with experience in data analysis
• High motivation and proven ability to conduct research independently
• Good communication skills, good knowledge and command of English
Demonstrable skills in programming and biostatistics (e.g. Perl / Python, R / Matlab) as well as the Unix
computing environment (e.g. Bash, HPC usage) are essential. Experience in analyzing short read DNA
sequencing data, ideally in the context of transcriptomics, proteomics and/or single cell analysis is a plus.
