Hi everyone!
I’m going to host a speaking club and invite you all to join.
Date: Saturday, 27 August
Time: 12-00 (Moscow time)
Cost: FREE
Platform: discord (most probably)
Requirements:
- level B2-C2+
- share this post on your profile page and keep it until the time of the session
- write a comment after visiting the meeting, sharing your feedback
In order to register, put a + in the comments below and share this post, then write a message to this community and say which is your level and why you think so. If you have any questions, also write there or in the comments below.
Now, let me tell you about the content. Initially, I wasn’t sure that taking quite an abstract topic is a good idea for the first meeting, but hey, judging by how amazingly intelligent students come to my classes, the topic might as well be too easy. So, ladies and (possibly) gentlemen, the topic of our session is going to be cultural differences. Broadly speaking. In fact, I’ve based the questions on chapter 7 from “Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell. This is some really stimulating reading. Some of my students have read it already, and with the Keynote Advanced groups we all read an article from New Scientist called Culture Clash on a very similar topic.
I’m attaching all of it to this post and I hope you will read the chapter before the meeting. I’m also sharing the slides I’ve prepared, but I don’t want you to focus on my questions excessively. I’d rather you made your own notes of what you found interesting.
